SALISBURY TRUST ANNOUNCES EQUESTRIAN SPONSORSHIP FINALISTS
Lakeville, CT - July 7, 2014

Salisbury Trust has chosen four recipients in its fourth annual Sportsmanship Award contest. The award was created in 2011 to honor the spirit of Eventing. The contest is open to horse and rider pairs of all ages and skill levels active in Eventing (Beginner Novice, Novice or Training). Finalists are chosen based on their perseverance, integrity, horsemanship, sportsmanship and humor, enriching not only the equine community but our greater community as well. Salisbury Trust will sponsor and pay the entry fees at the following events:

  • Riga Meadow Horse Trials, July 13, 2014
  • Town Hill Horse Trials, August 30 and August 31, 2014
  • Kent School Horse Trials, October 5, 2014

Each participant’s scores will be tallied throughout the sponsored events and the horse and rider with the lowest average score will receive the Salisbury Trust Sportsmanship Award.

Meredith Tiedemann, Vice President and Trust Officer, says “We sponsor this Eventing award to support those that exemplify the spirit of good sportsmanship and good horsemanship, which captures what Eventers are all about. To quote one of our applicants ‘Sportsmanship is also winning with humility and losing without envy,’ that is what this sport is about. We had some terrific applicants and to select just four individuals is always difficult. We are excited to support our four winners this summer and all of the Area 1 events in our community.”
