Salisbury Bank is helping in the fight against identity theft while building community goodwill by co-sponsoring the United Way's 2010 Shred-It Day which will be held on September 11, 2010.
Many people believe that identity fraud occurs only when a wallet is stolen or private information is given to unscrupulous parties over the Internet. But a confidential statement in the trash, stolen mail, or a photocopied ID card is a first step to identity theft and a point of vulnerability for almost all of us. With this information, an identity thief could open the door to your bank and investment accounts, order new credit cards, and maybe even get a mortgage in your name.
Shred-It trucks will be located in the communities of Lakeville and Canaan, Connecticut.
This service is brought to you by the Shred-it Company, the United Way of Northwest Connecticut and Salisbury Bank, as a way of giving back to the communities we serve.
Each person may bring up to 4 boxes of paper per person (paper only; no binders) for shredding by Shred-It personnel to any of the four locations listed below from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
- Geer Adult Day Center - 99 South Canaan Road, Canaan
- Northwest Center for Family Service & Mental Health - 315 Main St., Lakeville
