SALISBURY BANK ENRICHES LOCAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Lakeville, CT - July 10, 2013

Salisbury Bank is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2013 Annual Scholarship Program.  Salisbury Bank created its Annual Scholarship Program in 2009 to assist students who have a proven financial need and who are already making a difference in their communities.  Seven scholarships were awarded to assist eligible students seeking a college degree in a variety of programs.  The recipients are high-achieving students who possess a variety of interests, have demonstrated leadership experience, displayed consistent community involvement, and strive to make their world a better place.  The 2013 Scholarship recipients include:

Wayne Purdy of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village, CT was awarded $3,500.00.  Wayne will attend Bryant University this fall where he plans to study Business.

Matthew Matsudaira of Housatonic Valley Regional High School, Falls Village, CT was awarded $3,000.00.  Matthew will attend Harvard University this fall and is undeclared.

Aaron Martin of Mount Everett Regional High School, Sheffield, MA was awarded $3,500.00.  Aaron will attend Western New England University this fall where he plans to study Mechanical Engineering.

Glen Gilbert-Rivas of Webutuck High School, Amenia, NY was awarded $3,500.00.  Glen will attend Cornell University this fall where he plans to study Industrial and Labor Relations.

Dana Griffin of Dover High School, Dover Plains, NY was awarded $3,500.00.  Dana will attend Dutchess Community College this fall where she plans to study Nursing.

Meagan Shepherd of Stissing Mountain High School, Pine Plains, NY was awarded $3,000.00.  Meagan will attend Ithaca College this fall where she plans to study Television/Radio.

Clayton Michael of Stissing Mountain High School, Pine Plains, NY was awarded $3,500.00.  Clayton will attend Syracuse University this fall where he plans to study Finance.

Applicants were evaluated according to a 100-point system that takes into account financial need; academic achievement; community service; volunteerism and leadership; as well as essay responses.  The top scorers were interviewed by the Bank’s Scholarship Selection Committee.
